KUPSINEL, MD August 22, 2004 Dear Colleague, Friend and/or Selected Others, During the week of August 23, 2004, the evidentiary hearing for Alan Yurko took place in Orlando, Florida at the Court House. He has a wide international following of supporters -- both lay people and professionals in the health field. A large number of expert witnesses have come from far and wide to testify in Alan’s behalf. One is a long time friend and colleague of mine, Dr. Archie Kalokerinos, from Australia. Dr. Kalokerinos believes that the pathologies found at autopsy on many of these “shaken” babies, which include intracranial and retinal hemorrhages and bone changes that can be mistaken for fractures, are due to processes involving infections and toxins produced by the infections, along with an increased utilization of vitamin C. Dr. Kalokerinos has reasons to believe that there is a relationship between SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and the pathologies found in SBS (shaken baby syndrome.) Every parent needs to be made aware of this relationship and how these conditions can be prevented. Physicians and particularly pediatricians are included. Otherwise, innocent people can be charged with murder and spend the rest of their lives incarcerated in jail. Dr.

SINCERELY YOURS, SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME AND THE SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME HOW THEY ARE CONNECTED! AN ILLUSTRATED LECTURE BY DR. ARCHIE KALOKERINOS Forty-seven years ago Dr. Kalokerinos commenced practice in a more-or-less isolated part of Australia where a large proportion of his patients were Aborigines. Almost immediately he was faced with an unexplained and extraordinary high mortality rate. This presentation is an account of how the problem was overcome and how it lead to solutions for many other poorly understood and deadly problems. Using what was one of the few tools available—a camera—Dr. Kalokerinos documented his progress through an extremely complex and difficult minefield until he emerged suddenly and dramatically with the simple answers in his hands. So, you will see as well as hear about this incredible story. You do not need to be a doctor to understand how it came about. And you can utilize the knowledge gained. This is not a lecture for children or the faint-hearted. Some of the photographs may be disturbing, but the aim is not just to shock, it is to teach; and to prevent as much as possible unnecessary suffering and deaths. Dr. Kalokerinos has been honored in many ways. He was a subject of the Australian television show, similar to the one in the USA, THIS IS YOUR LIFE; many documentary reports, and a film made about his work. He was named as GREEK AUSTRALIAN OF THE 20th CENTURY. He has written several books with the latest, his autobiography, MEDICAL PIONEER OF THE 20th CENTURY (available from Dr. Kupsinel).
